Capacity Building for Global
Citizenship
I want to
have a positive impact in my community, where
do I start?
The problems seem so big, what can one person
do?
Who do I need to be to advance the kinds
of change I want to see?
What does it mean to be an effective
global citizen?

The Capacity Building for Global
Citizenship program is an opportunity for
people who are passionate about changing our
world for the better. At the Calgary
Centre for Global Community, we want people
to feel both a sense of agency with regards
to creating the kind of world we want, as
well as the capacity to support processes
for change in a thoughtful, inclusive and
ethical manner.
Whether individuals
support other organizations working for
change locally or internationally, or embark
on an initiative of their own, this program
will provide them with tools for both
analysis and action that contribute to the
Calgary Centre's vision of a healthy global
community.
The program will run
as a six-month pilot beginning in February
2012 with the vision to expand it to a
year-round program starting in October
2012. It consists of a series of
modules exploring different themes and
topics related to global citizenship and
social justice, as well as the chance to
develop a plan for action on a topic or
issue that is of personal interest or
importance.
